Its rugged Monterey-style bluffs, its 1874 lighthouse, its backdrop of cliffs and surf, with pelicans soaring overhead, its vistas, its charismatic winds, the 1974 movie "Chinatown" and many other films have made San Pedro's Point Fermin in southern California a popular location known worldwide.
Restored to its original configuration, Point Fermin Lighthouse is built in a variant of the Queen Anne architectural style known as Stick Style. This style was used for six American lighthouses built between 1873 and 1874, of which only two others are still standing. It sits literally at the southernmost tip of Los Angeles at the southern end of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Point Fermin Lighthouse overlooks a picturesque stretch of coastline. The view from the tower is one of the finest obtainable on this section of California's southern coast. Southwestards, as far as the eye can see, is the limitless stretch of blue ocean, sparkling and scintillatin...
