With its 40-foot columns and polished stone, Wrigley Square and Millennium Monument, on the southeast corner of Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street, is where the past and present meet in the heart of Chicago's beautiful downtown. Made up of doric columns, The Colonnade is the link to the city's past. At the center of the monument is the Millennium Fountain.
This nearly full-sized replica of the semicircle of paired Greek Doric-style columns (called a Peristyle) that originally sat in this area of Grant Park from 1917 to 1953, is the most modest and traditional piece of architecture in Chicago's Millennium Park. With its graceful semi-circular row of columns that rise nearly 40 feet, the Millennium Monument ties the past to the present and supports the designation of Michigan Avenue as a landmark district.
