The St. Louis Cathedral is one of New Orleans' most notable landmarks and one of the cultural and architectural treasures of the French Quarter. No trip to The Big Easy is complete without a visit to the Cathedral of Saint Louis King of France, the oldest Catholic cathedral in continual use in the United States (since 1794).

In the rear of the Cathedral-Basilica is one of the most delightful spots in the Vieux Carre - St. Anthony's Garden. This little island of green, with its noble oak, sycamore and magnolia trees in the shadow of the wall of the sanctuary, is a continual delight. Saint Anthonys Garden is dominated by 'The Sacred Heart of Jesus', a white marble statue of Jesus Christ with His arms upraised. At night, floodlights project an imposing shadow from the Sacred Heart of Jesus sculpture onto the Cathedral wall - a particularly eerie and awe-inspiring sight.
