"Lonely as God, and white as a winter moon, Mount Shasta starts up sudden and solitary from the heart of the great black forests of Northern California."
~Joaquin Miller
'Life Amongst the Modocs'
Not just Native Americans but many people believe Mt. Shasta, a dormant volcano in northern California, has supernatural powers. Like many other striking skyscrapers of stone, the Shasta has some sort of spiritual energy that is hard to describe.
Outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to the volcano's serenity and imposing presence. At 14,200 feet Mount Shasta, in Pacific Ring of Fire, is the 2nd largest volcano in the Cascades - so high that most of the time it creates its own weather.
Standing on Shasta's summit is one of the most rewarding experiences of life.
