The Cathedral of Saint Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert (Katedrála sv. Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha), commonly known as Saint Vitus Cathedral (Svatovítská katedrála), is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Prague. While the enormous complex of Prague Castle includes many interesting buildings, the cathedral is the one that dominates the city skyline and is visible from far and wide.
The exterior of Saint Vitus Cathedral captivates us by the richness of its Gothic buttressing and decoration. Externally the Cathedral is meant to be reminiscent of the "City" of God. That's why we can see "little towers" (pinnacles), suggestions of house gables, "passageways", staircases and balustrades everywhere - a veritable stone forest of flying buttresses, pillars and pinnacles making the structure of the Cathedral most unique.
