Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine is one of Florida's finest remaining vintage attractions. Where else can you drink from the Fountain of Youth, watch white peacocks and see a giant 2-story black light globe? And amid all the quirky animatronics is some serious history: A Timucuan village existed here 1000 years before the Europeans arrived and wiped them out with disease.
Superstition has it that white peacocks bring eternal happiness. Maybe there was a reason a muster (or flock) of nearly 30 Indian peafowl was placed in a park which just may have the fountain of youth. White peacocks are a variety of peacock and not albinos. The blue peacock males spread their plumage in order to attract a mate and to warn off other males and the show is stunning - but it pales in comparison to the display of the white peacocks, which look like huge snowflakes!
Their raucous calls echo from all areas of the Park, and their colorful displays are unforgettable. Quite a beautiful bird!
